The Rise of Domestic Inverters: Entering the High-End Market, with the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta Leading the Way

发布时间:2023-04-12

Domestic frequency inverters have gradually risen since the 21st century and begun to penetrate the high-end market. The Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions have emerged as key hubs for the development of domestic inverters, giving rise to renowned brands such as Inovance, Invt, Anbangxin, EURA, and Oulu. Frequency inverters are widely used in mechanical equipment applications such as conveying, hoisting, extrusion, and machine tools, enhancing product quality and process efficiency while reducing equipment impact and noise, thereby extending service life. With the adoption of frequency conversion speed control, mechanical systems become simpler, operation and control more convenient, and in some cases, even enable modifications to process standards, thereby enhancing overall equipment functionality. Additionally, frequency inverters are extensively employed in various household appliances and industrial equipment, including fans, pumps, air conditioners, and refrigerators.

As an effective speed regulator and starter, frequency inverters are primarily manufactured in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions, with the latter hosting a larger concentration of production bases. Areas such as Sichuan, Shandong, and Liaoning also contribute to inverter production, while Beijing has developed a relatively mature high-voltage inverter industry. From the perspective of listed companies’ industrial chain distribution, upstream and midstream enterprises in the inverter sector are mainly located in Guangdong and other regions, while downstream applications are concentrated in Beijing. According to data from QiChamao, a Chinese enterprise database, the majority of existing Chinese inverter companies are based in Zhejiang and Guangdong. As of September 9, 2022, Zhejiang had 467 related enterprises, while Guangdong had 182.

There are currently over 300 frequency inverter equipment manufacturers in China, with approximately 20 to 30 major brands. Foreign brands still dominate the medium and low-voltage inverter markets in China. Domestic companies vary significantly in strength and scale, and some newer products have been on the market for a relatively short period, making it challenging for them to compete with established international brands in terms of maturity and brand recognition.
