Oulu Electric Holds 2018 Annual Fire Safety Drill

At 8:30 a.m. on July 24, alarms were activated within Oulu Electric’s premises, accompanied by smoke drifting across the area. There is no need for concern — this was not an actual safety incident, but rather the company’s annual fire drill, designed to disseminate fire safety knowledge, enhance employees’ emergency self-protection and evacuation skills, and strengthen awareness of fire prevention.

Ensuring workplace safety is a recurring priority emphasized by Oulu’s management. This drill received strong support from a professional fire safety equipment company. Participants included company leaders, department managers, team supervisors, all warehouse staff, painting workshop employees, and all new hires who joined after May 2017.

Meticulously prepared, the drill was structured into three key phases:

1. An introduction outlining the purpose, procedures, and precautions of the drill.

2. A comprehensive fire safety training session covering basic knowledge, key points for fire extinguishing, correct operation of fire extinguishers, essentials of fire escape, proper procedures for reporting fires, and daily fire safety management.

3. A practical evacuation drill: activating the fire alarm, guiding employees to evacuate, and managing orderly escape routes.

Throughout the fire drill, all participants demonstrated orderly conduct and followed standardized procedures, effectively learning how to prevent chaos and stampedes during evacuations. The professional instructors delivered engaging training with practical case studies, significantly enhancing everyone's essential fire safety knowledge. Many employees expressed that the experts' guidance was immensely valuable—equipping them with potentially life-saving skills for critical situations.

Employees actively and orderly participated in the fire extinguisher training session, successfully completing drills focused on suppressing initial-stage fires. A rescue exercise for injured personnel was also conducted on site.

During the drill, the commanding staff directed operations with clear effectiveness, and employees responded promptly, completing all scheduled activities with serious engagement. The entire exercise was tightly organized and executed in a tense yet orderly manner, with firefighting actions carried out swiftly and efficiently. Participants not only gained substantial knowledge of fire safety and hands-on experience in extinguishing fires but also enhanced their ability to respond decisively to emergencies and strengthened their team collaboration spirit. The drill was highly commended by both company leadership and the professional fire safety equipment provider.

At the conclusion of the exercise, company leaders and the safety officer emphasized that the purpose of such drills is to prevent disasters before they occur. Safety has always been treated as a top priority at the company, with safe production placed at the core of operations. The company conducts regular annual fire safety training and drills designed to elevate all employees’ awareness and skills, test the organization’s emergency preparedness and operational capabilities, and foster a secure and harmonious working environment—fulfilling our broader social responsibilities.
