Continental Electric Successfully Passes “Cleaner Production” Certification

In February 2012, China enacted the Cleaner Production Promotion Law. The term “cleaner production” refers to the continuous adoption of measures—such as improved design, the use of clean energy and raw materials, the application of advanced technologies and equipment, enhanced management, and comprehensive resource utilization—aimed at reducing pollution at its source, improving resource efficiency, and minimizing or avoiding the generation and emission of pollutants during production, service delivery, and product use, thereby mitigating or eliminating harm to human health and the environment.

Continental Electric operates in an industry and manufactures products that are closely tied to energy conservation, industrial automation, and renewable power generation. These include high-efficiency inverters, small wind turbines, and energy-saving servo motors and drives. Given this focus, the company places strong emphasis on cleaner production. With support from municipal and district economic and information authorities, Continental Electric successfully passed the cleaner production audit at the end of 2017.

The company established a Cleaner Production Audit Leadership Group, headed by the general manager, to fully implement and oversee all cleaner production initiatives. Every department adopted a whole-process control approach, from raw material procurement to finished product delivery. Emphasis was placed on preventing pollution and pursuing continuous improvement in all operations—down to saving every drop of water and maintaining civilized production standards.

Daily management and record-keeping systems were implemented for energy input and output. Regular inspections of internal power distribution lines and water supply facilities were conducted to eliminate potential safety hazards. Through ongoing training and heightened awareness of cleaner production, employees’ environmental consciousness continually improved.

The company conducts thorough analyses of energy consumption, accurately evaluating product electricity use, costs, and economic benefits. Metrics and accounting related to processes and energy-using equipment are supported by corresponding systems and strictly enforced. An environmental and social responsibility management structure has also been established.

Responsibilities are clearly assigned from the general manager down to each department head, enhancing plant-wide accountability for environmental performance. The company maintains consistent safety management and education programs, conducts regular inspections, and promptly addresses risks to prevent accidents. Contingency plans and robust environmental management systems are in place.

By identifying key areas for cleaner production, the company has improved its environmental performance, energy efficiency, and operational effectiveness. Comprehensive reductions in water and electricity consumption and pollutant emissions have been achieved. Through effective management measures, Continental Electric has enhanced production cleanliness, realizing a “win-win” scenario of sustained economic and environmental coordination. The goals of “energy conservation, consumption reduction, pollution mitigation, and efficiency gains” have been met.

Implementing cleaner production is essential for achieving healthy and sustainable development. excelling in cleaner production will actively promote the fulfillment of corporate social responsibility, facilitate business transformation and upgrading, and strengthen Continental Electric’s market competitiveness.
